  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples by peeling, coring, and slicing them. Toss with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  2. Make the shortbread base by mixing flour, brown sugar, and salt, then add cold butter and blend until crumbly. Press into a baking dish.
  3. Assemble by distributing the apple filling evenly over the shortbread base.
  4. Prepare the crumble topping by mixing remaining flour, brown sugar, oats, and salt. Add butter and mix until crumbly, then sprinkle over apples.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 35-40 minutes until golden and tender.
