Instructions
- Prepare the apples by peeling, coring, and slicing them. Toss with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Make the shortbread base by mixing flour, brown sugar, and salt, then add cold butter and blend until crumbly. Press into a baking dish.
- Assemble by distributing the apple filling evenly over the shortbread base.
- Prepare the crumble topping by mixing remaining flour, brown sugar, oats, and salt. Add butter and mix until crumbly, then sprinkle over apples.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 35-40 minutes until golden and tender.
