  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: 9-12 rolls

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 6 slices of bacon
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons bourbon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for filling)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for filling)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (for glaze)
  • 1-2 teaspoons bourbon (for glaze, optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook bacon until crispy, then chop into small bits.
  2. In a bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. Combine warm milk, teaspoon of sugar, and yeast in a large bowl. Let sit until foamy, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add melted butter, egg, remaining sugar, and salt. Gradually add flour to form a soft dough, knead for 5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll the dough into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
  7. Spread softened butter over the dough, sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture and top with chopped bacon.
  8. Roll up the dough tightly, slice into 9-12 equal rolls, and place in a greased baking dish.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Prepare glaze by mixing powdered sugar, maple syrup, and bourbon. Drizzle over warm rolls and serve immediately.
