- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- Pinch of salt
- 6 slices of bacon
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons bourbon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (for filling)
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for filling)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup (for glaze)
- 1-2 teaspoons bourbon (for glaze, optional)
Instructions
- Cook bacon until crispy, then chop into small bits.
- In a bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
- Combine warm milk, teaspoon of sugar, and yeast in a large bowl. Let sit until foamy, about 5 minutes.
- Add melted butter, egg, remaining sugar, and salt. Gradually add flour to form a soft dough, knead for 5 minutes until smooth.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll the dough into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
- Spread softened butter over the dough, sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture and top with chopped bacon.
- Roll up the dough tightly, slice into 9-12 equal rolls, and place in a greased baking dish.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Prepare glaze by mixing powdered sugar, maple syrup, and bourbon. Drizzle over warm rolls and serve immediately.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
- Reheat in the microwave or briefly in the oven to restore texture.
- These rolls can be assembled ahead of time and baked the next morning for convenience.
