Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 6 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup diced onions
- 1/2 cup chopped pickles (optional for added zest)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp tomato paste or sugar-free ketchup
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Start by cooking the bacon until crispy, then crumble and set aside. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, seasoning with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Once cooked, drain excess fat if necessary.
- In the same skillet, add diced onions and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- In a bowl, combine the cooked beef, onions, heavy cream, tomato paste, and three-quarters of the shredded cheddar cheese. Add chopped pickles if desired. Mix well to incorporate all flavors.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish. Top evenly with the remaining cheese and sprinkle with crumbled bacon. Garnish with chopped parsley if using.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and golden on top. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
