Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 8 ounces of your favorite pasta (penne, rotini, or spaghetti)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup marinara sauce or tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Add the diced onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
- Add the ground turkey, season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook until the turkey is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the marinara sauce to the skillet with the cooked turkey. Stir well and simmer for 5 minutes to blend the flavors, adjusting seasoning as needed.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the turkey sauce. Toss to coat the pasta evenly.
- Lower the heat, sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan over the pasta, cover briefly until the cheese melts, about 2-3 minutes. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- To reheat, microwave on medium power, adding a splash of water or extra cheese for moisture.
- This dish pairs well with garlic bread or a simple green salad for a complete meal.
