  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 8 ounces of your favorite pasta (penne, rotini, or spaghetti)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup marinara sauce or tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Add the diced onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  3. Add the ground turkey, season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook until the turkey is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add the marinara sauce to the skillet with the cooked turkey. Stir well and simmer for 5 minutes to blend the flavors, adjusting seasoning as needed.
  5. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the turkey sauce. Toss to coat the pasta evenly.
  6. Lower the heat, sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan over the pasta, cover briefly until the cheese melts, about 2-3 minutes. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • To reheat, microwave on medium power, adding a splash of water or extra cheese for moisture.
  • This dish pairs well with garlic bread or a simple green salad for a complete meal.
