- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add flour and salt, mixing until combined. Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan to form the crust.
- In a separate bowl, toss sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread evenly over the crust.
- Combine oats and pecans (if using), then sprinkle over the apple layer.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown on top and the filling is bubbly.
- Allow to cool before cutting into bars. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- For a gluten-free version, substitute gluten-free flour and oats.
- Enhance flavor with a drizzle of caramel sauce or a dollop of whipped cream.
