Soft, buttery garlic rolls topped with melted cheese and fresh herbs, perfect for sharing or as a savory side dish.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 35 minutes
  • Yield: 12 rolls

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and melted butter. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.
  3. Cover the dough and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place on a greased baking sheet.
  5. Mix minced garlic with a tablespoon of melted butter. Brush over the tops of the rolls.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese. Return to oven for another 5 minutes until cheese melts.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the garlic butter.
  • You can swap mozzarella for cheddar or parmesan for variation.
  • Ensure yeast is fresh for a good rise.
