Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook slowly, stirring occasionally, until golden and caramelized, about 30 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and thyme.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness and transfer to a pizza baking sheet or stone.
- Spread a layer of caramelized onions evenly over the dough.
- Sprinkle shredded Gruyere cheese generously over the onions.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
- Remove from oven, garnish with fresh thyme, and serve hot.
