- 1 large head of cabbage
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Core the cabbage and blanch whole in boiling water for 5 minutes. Separate leaves carefully and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onions and garlic until translucent.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground meat, cooked rice, sautéed onions, garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Place a spoonful of filling onto each cabbage leaf and roll up, tucking in the sides.
- Arrange cabbage rolls in a baking dish and pour tomato sauce over them.
- Bake uncovered for 40 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, substitute the meat with lentils or mushrooms.
- Serve with crusty bread or a side salad for a complete meal.
