These quick and easy cabbage rolls are filled with a savory mixture of ground meat, rice, and spices, then baked until tender and golden.

Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Core the cabbage and blanch whole in boiling water for 5 minutes. Separate leaves carefully and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onions and garlic until translucent.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine ground meat, cooked rice, sautéed onions, garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  5. Place a spoonful of filling onto each cabbage leaf and roll up, tucking in the sides.
  6. Arrange cabbage rolls in a baking dish and pour tomato sauce over them.
  7. Bake uncovered for 40 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
