  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced into rings
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns, cracked
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Sesame seeds and chopped scallions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.
  2. Add sliced beef and stir-fry until browned, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add remaining oil, then sauté onions, red and green peppers until slightly tender but still crispy.
  4. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Return beef to the pan, add soy sauce, oyster sauce, black peppercorns, and stir to combine.
  6. If using, add cornstarch mixed with a little water to thicken the sauce.
  7. Cook for another 2 minutes until everything is nicely coated and heated through.
  8. Serve hot topped with sesame seeds and chopped scallions.

Notes

  • Ensure beef is sliced thinly for quick stir-frying.
  • You can substitute bell peppers with other vegetables like snap peas or broccoli.
  • Adjust spice level by adding chili flakes if desired.
