- 2 cups cooked elbow macaroni
- 1 cup shredded cooked BBQ chicken
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Add heavy cream and Dijon mustard, whisk until smooth. Cook until slightly thickened.
- Stir in shredded cheeses and barbecue sauce, and season with salt and pepper. Mix until cheese is melted and sauce is creamy.
- Combine cheese sauce with cooked macaroni and BBQ chicken. Transfer to a baking dish.
- Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
Notes
- For extra smoky flavor, add smoked paprika or smoked gouda cheese.
- This dish can be prepared ahead and baked later for convenience.
