- 6 cups of cubed brioche or thick bread
- 3 large apples, sliced
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup of milk
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- Butter for greasing the baking dish
- Powdered sugar and caramel sauce for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Arrange the cubed bread and apple slices evenly in the dish.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread and apples, pressing gently to soak.
- Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes until golden and set in the center.
- Remove from oven and cool slightly. Serve warm, topped with powdered sugar and caramel sauce if desired.
Notes
- You can substitute gluten-free bread for a gluten-free version.
- For added crunch, sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts before baking.
- Serve with a dollop of whipped cream or a drizzle of honey for extra indulgence.
